Prof. Milan Konečný is the Former Vice President, Former Acting President and one of the Founding Members of ISDE. He also serves as the Former President of the International Cartographic Association (ICA), Founder and Director of Laboratory on Geoinformatics and Cartography at Masaryk University, the Czech Republic, an Academician and Former Vice-President of the International Eurasian Academy of Science (IEAS).


He is a professor at Masaryk University, the Czech Republic. He was/is a Guest Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Henan University, Kaifeng; Shenzhen University, China; Vienna University, Austria; and Constantine the Philosopher University. He founded and served as the Chairman of ICA Commission on cartography on early warning and crises management and from July 2019 continues as its Vice-Chair.


He is an invited expert to the 1st International Symposium on Digital Earth in 1999, Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Symposium on Digital Earth in Brno, the Czech Republic in 2003, and one of Chapter editors of the Manual of Digital Earth.
