Mr. Al Gore--Made a Speech in China and Accepted to be a Special Adviser to the ISDE

              

               

Invited by the International Society for Digital Earth  (ISDE) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the former Vice President of the United States, Mr. Al Gore, delivered a speech entitled "Climate Change and the Environmental Protection " at the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on August 13, 2007.
 
Mr. Gore is recognized as an "environmental guardian" and has been committed to environmental protection work. He traveled around the world, and made great efforts to promote environmental consciousness. This morning the staunch environmentalist gave an academic lecture to more than 300 audiences in Beijing. After the speech, he answered each of the delegates� questions. As the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is about to take place, Mr. Gore put a point on the environmental aspects for the host city.
 
As we know, on January 31, 1998, Mr. Gore made a speech entitled " The Digital Earth: Understanding our planet in the 21st Century", in the California Science Center. At the same time he brought forward the concept of "Digital Earth". After that he has done a lot of works for the development of "Digital Earth". For his great contribution, ISDE invited Mr. Gore to be a special adviser to the society and he accepted it happily. At the end of the lecture, Mr. Gore received the certificate given by the Secretary General of ISDE, Prof. Guo Huadong.
