Volume 8 (2020) of the Russian Digital Earth Almanac published

On the eve of 2021, Volume 8 (2020) of the annual interdisciplinary almanac Geocontext, Russia's leading academic journal on Digital Earth, was published. The volume was issued immediately after the 8th Digital Earth Summit in late November-early December under the slogan "Digital Earth in a Changed World: Challenges and Opportunities", and reflects its spirit and outcomes.

In Volume 8 of the almanac seven articles were published - one in Russian and six in English.  All of them are directly addressed to interdisciplinary aspects of Digital Earth. One paper discusses the philosophical and socio-technogenic aspects of Digital Earth. Five papers present the problem of the use of the Digital Earth in a state audit, as well as the concept of auto-audit of Digital Earth itself. One paper, by authors from Italy, Russia and Malaysia, proposes a Digital Health Earth project focused on harnessing the Digital Earth's potential to ensure sustained health on Earth.

Geocontext almanac is the only Russian journal dedicated to interdisciplinary subjects of Digital Earth, neogeography and advanced geospatial technologies. It has been published since 2013 only in digital. Articles are published in Russian and English one issue a year. The journal is peer-reviewed and registered in national and international index bases. Geocontext is open access (CC BY-NC-ND), and publications are free of charge for their authors (no APC of any kind).
