Prof. Dr. Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse is recognised as one of the spatial leaders in Australia and Globally. He holds a pivotal role as an adviser to various National and International spatial organisations. He is the Chair of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management - Geospatial Societies (UN-GGIM: GS). He has served as the Vice President of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE). He has been leading global conversation on Spatial enablement of UN Sustainable Development Goals for the past 5 years.
He has over 25 years of global experience in geospatial strategy, policy, and infrastructure development. He also serves on the Board of the Open Geospatial Consortium. His previous roles also include Executive Board Member of the World Geospatial Industry Council and current Chair of the Policy Committee and its UN and Related Entities Working Group.
He has spearheaded several large-scale national mapping projects across Australia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and India. His expertise spans spatial data infrastructure, GIS applications, AI/ML policy, and digital twins. He has published extensively on topics including water resource management, disaster response, spatial ethics, and geospatial ecosystem. He holds academic appointments at the University of Melbourne, Anna University, and the National Institute of Advanced Studies. In Australia, he has served as President and Chair of the Board of SSSI and contributes to the Spatial and Space 2030 Roadmap.
