Richard Simpson's career includes politics, bioengineering, digital engineering and spatial sciences. He is an early pioneer of the 3D computer graphics industry in New Zealand and has over 30 years of international experience in leading the design and development of the large spatial infrastructures for major cities and some of the world's largest utility and infrastructure organisations. He currently serves as the President of the International Society for Digital Earth. He has authored several books, and serves as honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne and also Griffith University. He chairs the ISDE’s Working Group on Digital Cities and has appointments as expert adviser to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and building SMART (bSI) working groups for the integrated digital built environment.

Meta Moto has served clients in the Government, Communications, Transport, Construction, Investment and Utilities sectors. The company has advised digital twin strategies for several high-profile projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific.
