Prof. Deren Li

Prof. Deren Li is an Academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). He is the recipient of the National Highest Science and Technology Award, a member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences (IEAS), and a Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Academic Committee at Wuhan University, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing (SKLIESM), and Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Geospatial Information Technology. His past leadership roles include serving as President of the Chinese Society for Geodesy, Photogrammetry, and Cartography (CSGPC) (1998-2001), Vice President of the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) (1994-2006), Vice President of the Environmental Remote Sensing Branch of the Geographical Society of China (GSC) (1995-2008), Founding President of the Asian GIS Association (AGISA) (2003-2008), and Chairman of Commissions III and VI of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) (1988-1996). Prof. Li specializes in geospatial information science, with a particular focus on remote sensing, global satellite positioning, and geographic information systems. He also serves as the Deputy Leader of the Expert Group for the National Major Science and Technology Project on High-Resolution Earth Observation Systems. Throughout his career, he has published more than 740 papers and 22 books and has received 11 prestigious domestic and international awards.
